We've designed and built a new baseboard for the MBED and LPCxpresso LPC1769 boards that will allow people to put the LPC boards into harsh environments. This design was born out of a need for a flexible and easily programmable controller for use in electric vehicle applications, but can be used for much more. We started with a Cinch Modice ME enclosure and designed a baseboard using the MBED/LPCXpresso form-factor, then added a Xbee socket, battery backup, isolated CAN, microSD card slot and flexible and tolerant I/O.
