Windows serial driver license
What's the license for the Windows Serial driver?
https://developer.mbed.org/handbook/Windows-serial-configuration
It is classified as just part of the SDK? https://developer.mbed.org/handbook/mbed-SDK
or mbed tools? https://developer.mbed.org/handbook/mbed-tools
and released under the Apache license?
and where is the .inf under version control? (if at all).
Thanks -Robin
Out of curiosity, why are you asking about a license?
The .inf file is not shared anywhere as I recall
posted by Martin Kojtal 13 Aug 2015I would like to understand (a) the rights and imposing restrictions/obligations I have when I use the serial driver as a developer, I assume there is some sort of limitations of liability, warranties and warranty disclaimers, and indemnity if the software infringes intellectual property rights of others - right now I don't know; and (b) what rights I have if I want to distribute the serial driver, or tell end users of my hardware they should install it. I can't just tell people to install random software when I don't know what license it may be under.
The inf file is shared - it's part of the install package. It just may not be under version control anywhere public. The question is if I should be using a different PID/VID that what is in the inf file for my hardware - what is the process to get this upstream?
