St nucleo and Jtag for Debug

hi to all, i am a newbie of Embedded worLd, i have this question, i want buy a JTag for example one of this https://www.olimex.com/Products/ARM/JTAG/ which is the best for debug a ST Nucleo F401RE and for a ST Nucleo L152RE? What software should I use for debug? best regards J.

Hello Antonio Mariano,

why do you need an external debugger as JTAG when there's STLink on the board? You can update ST link to CMSIS-DAP which is supported in various IDE.

Are you referring to mbed and it's export functionalities or your own application outside of mbed world?

Hi Martin, thanks for your answer, i am a newbie of embedded world, i want a easy system for debugging my application. For now i prefare a easy system but i want use this information /know how for my job.
