bootloader does not show show in after installing mbed

Hello My name is Pete and I am on my first day here on mbed. I am a newbie to ARM.

The mbed application is ok and I successfully downloaded the HelloWorld_KL25Z.bin file to my FRDM-KL25Z board.

If I try to enter the bootlader by depressing reset while I power up I run into what I intemperate as a problem.

The device does not show up as a derive aywhere. The lsusb command in linux shows that something is present on the buss but it has no name, ie. blank.

Windows XP running in VirtualBox detects that the device is connected, a MSD shows up in device manager and in the Control Panel/Admistration/Storage panel as "FSL FSL/PEMICRO MSD USB Device". Yet is does not show up in Windows Explorer.

What might I have done wrong and where shoulld I go from here?

much thanks pete

Hello Pete Eisenhuth,

did you update bootloader? Here's the link (updated in August 2013) http://www.pemicro.com/opensda/index.cfm . This might help you. I remember there's another question here , was asked like 2 weeks ago with the same problem. He solved it as I recall, with a program whidh changes end of lines.

0xc170 Thanks for the reply. But why the 10 minute delay? I expected the earliest possible reply to be tomorrow. Much thanks. But I cannot restore it because I cannot get to the K20 bootloader (ie It shows up as Bootloader in Windows). If I put it into the mbed loader it will try to program the K25 with it whereas I need to program the K20 with the SDA. Or am I wide of the mark in this.

thanks pete
