IAP with USB Stick

28 Feb 2011

Hello all! I have already searched through the forum but I couldn't find any solution for my problem: I want to send the program file (.bin file) on an USB Stick to a customer who has no possibility to download the sourcecode from a computer to the device. I could imagin that there should be a bootloader on the mbed which picks the data from the stick and stores it in the flash memory when an extern button is pressed. The mbed has to be powered externally, not from the main USB connector. The USB stick should be connected to D+ & D-. From my point of view this has to deal with IAP (in application programming).

Is there any possibity to solve this problem? Thank you for help!

Best regards Markus

You can probably do a variation of firmware update over Ethernet. Just replace downloading from network by downloading from the USB stick.
