No mbed Microcontrollers were found

I have just opened my new NUCLEO-F746ZG for the first time and tried to connect it to my PC. I have Windows 10. I plugged the microcontroller into my PC via the A to Micro B USB. The LEDs came on and I was able to change the LEDs with the buttons, however my computer did not register the input. I tried installing the Arm Mbed Windows serial port driver, but got the error message ' No mbed Microcontrollers were found'. I have tried this with 2 different cables and all my USB ports. Has anybody else experienced this issue or have any idea what the issue could be?

Damn! This prob happens so often (over many years) - hard to believe ARM or some savvy tech hasn't given an answer! :-(

I agree with Alan - it is hard to believe this is still an issue.

I'm having the same problem trying to use a NUCLEO-F103RB and Windows 10 and been trying for 2 days to get this resolved without any success.

Reinstalling drivers, disabling signature enforcement, changing com port setting, etc. - so far nothing has worked and I'm ready to toss in the towel and try some other development platform for my project.
