LoRa radio interface documentation

What is the LoRa chip used, and is it documented, so that I could write my own non-LoRa-compatible firmware, in the same way that you can for Nordic's chips?

Question relating to:

The MultiConnect® mDot™ offers significantly longer range and improved radio performance compared to traditional wireless solutions—resulting in greater transmission range and reduced capital expense.

Don't forget that you will no longer have FCC or ETSI approval if you do that so you will have to re-certify the mDot yourself.

I *think* I should be ok as long as I don't make it "available on the market" where ‘making available on the market’ means any supply of radio equipment for distribution, consumption or use on the Union market in the course of a *commercial activity*, whether in return for payment or free of charge. See http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=celex:32014L0053 (Anyway, I'm not planning on selling the result so I don't really care that much.)
