Problem with FRDM-KL25Z & Windows 10

Hello, I'm still having trouble with the FRDM-KL25Z boards and Windows 10. The boards are detected via the SDA connector and is enumerated as a COM port but the connection is lost as soon as I try and download a program. The same applies when trying to update the firmware. I was able to borrow a computer with XP and the boards work ok, so the problem appears to be with Windows 10 and the KL25Z SDA. I've tried this on three different boards all with the same symptoms. Any ideas on how I can get the boards working under Windows 10? Thanks, Ralph

What you describe is what should happen. The COM port should come back after the program as been downloaded. I don't see how on an XP computer it would not happen.

Do you have the mbed firmware running on it? Programmed via the XP computer? (There are/have been some issues with programming the firmware on W8.1 and later).

Hello Erik, Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I have everything setup correctly. I've reloaded the firmware on all of the boards and the Windows drivers on both computers.

On the XP machine the COM port does come back immediately after a download, as you describe, and the boards work perfectly. However, on the Windows 10 machine the COM port does not come back properly. It drops out during a download of either code or the firmware update so never completes the download and then returns some 100's of ms later. I have also tried an LPC1768, and that board works perfectly on both computers. To me, by elimination, it suggests an issue with the KL25Z specifically and Windows 10? I welcome any suggestions.

Kind regards, Ralph

Ah yeah, if it does not come back something is wrong. After downloading when the mass storage comes back, is there a fail.txt?
