Disaster??

Hello, After my problems unsolved of the last discussion, I have bought a new one board. And then the problems arrived. First when I plugged the first time the board to the PC, I got a new E:\FRDM-KL25Z in the explorer: OK. When I start the board with the reset pressed, I got a E:\BOOTLOADER : OK. And that is finished. If I start without the Reset pressed: NOTHING. If I start with the Reset pressed and next copy MSD-DEBUG-FRDM-KL25Z_Pemicro_v114.SDA in E:\BOOTLOADER, then restart: NOTHING. Conclusion: 2 boards bricked??

I missed your previous topics, due to the way mbed site works, topics are really easy to miss.

From the screenshot you posted there, I assume you have W10 running? The problem can very well be that the default bootloader does not run under W10. There is a new one, but you can guess what you need to update the bootloader: Indeed, a working bootloader. Once you got the mbed firmware on it, it will work fine, but also for that you need a working bootloader. While I am not 100% sure if they still do it, considering your issues it is likely that Freescale is still shipping them without a recent version of the bootloader.

The solution: Update using a Windows version of 8.0 or earlier. The obvious problem: Try to find a windows of 8.0 or earlier. The good news: Once you found one and you got the most recent mbed firmware on it, it should work properly.

Thank you for your answer, it's the solution. In the same time I have found this page: http://mcuoneclipse.com/2014/11/01/illustrated-step-by-step-instructions-updating-the-freescale-freedom-board-firmware/ I have done that with an old PC and W7, and now it's working with W10!! It will be a good idea for Freescale to write it on the first page to avoid these kind of problems. Again thank you for your solution. Regards

Glad to hear you solved it, and still had a W7 PC. One of the main issues however is that they should simply start shipping them with a more recent one. Up till half a year ago everyone knew at least someone who had a W7 PC. However now many are switching to W10, so soon people simply won't have W7 PCs anymore.
