USB Serial driver not installing correctly
Hi All,
I am somewhat new to mbed, and am interested in using it for a robotics project. I am running a windows 7 system, and can't seem to establish a virtual COM port. I have run mbedWinSerial_16466 numerous times and every time, the following happens:
1. windows asks me if I want to make changes to my computer... I click 'yes'
2. a window opens asking if I want to install the serial driver. I click 'install'
3. a window pops up saying that the driver has installed successfully. I click 'finish'
4. everything goes away, and I check in device manager and there is no virtual COM port. it just shows the same settings before: mbed showing up in 'other devices' 'portable devices' and 'universal serial bus controllers'.
so far I have tried the following:
checked multiple cables
tried downloading from internet explorer, and chrome.
deleted the mbed driver files from my program files, and re-installed everything
I made a mistake the first time running mbedWinSerial_16466 while my device manager was open, not paying attention to the download instructions page. I don't know if this would have anything to do with it.
does anyone have suggestions on where to go from here? any advice would be much appreciated.
thanks
